Nick Brown Partner

Nick Brown FCA DChA

Partner- Head of Payroll department 

Nick is Plummer Parsons' longest serving partner and the Partner with overall responsibility for the PP Payroll Bureau.

He is keen to make sure that the payroll department staff are all highly trained and fully aware of all the necessary legislation and has introduced a series of bespoke training sessions to ensure that they are kept up to date at all times with the ever changing and increasingly complex world of payroll.  To make sure that he understands the issues faced by his staff he regularly processes payrolls himself.

Although his specialism's include auditing, business strategic planning and charities, Nick has a broad general practice background to draw from. Professionally, as a chartered accountant, his interests include advising family businesses with taxation, strategy or succession issues and working within the charity and not for profit areas.

Philippa Walker Payroll Manager

Philippa joined Plummer Parsons in 1994 having previously worked for East Sussex Social Services and Eastbourne Borough Treasurers.

Philippa has worked in payroll for over 17 years and for the first 7 years of her time with Plummer Parsons also worked in our Tax Department. Philippa now manages our busy payroll bureau and supervises four members of staff.

She is married with one son who lives in Sydney. Philippa enjoys her garden, the theatre and socializing with family and friends.

 

Elayne Brown Administrator

Elayne joined Plummer Parsons in 2004, having worked previously in the payroll department of East Sussex County Council.

Elayne started off doing payroll but also helping out with the banking, reception and stationery.  As it got busier in payroll she dropped the other tasks and concentrated solely in this department.  She worked her way up to Supervisor which is the position held now.  It involves the training of new employees and the questions thereafter. Telephone queries from clients, checking large payrolls and keeping the deadlines associated with this. 

Having now completed seven years at Plummer Parsons she have found the job rewarding and challenging and never stops learning!  Elayne is kept up to date with current legislation through two workshops at PP in Eastbourne and an annual meeting at the software provider.

Elayne lives in Eastbourne and enjoys doing the garden, walking along the prom and the many coffee shops!

 

Kerry Coates Administrator

Payroll Administrator

Kerry was educated at Cavendish School, Eastbourne and continued her studies at Sussex Downs College. She started work at Plummer Parsons in 2007 as a Payroll Assistant and quickly showed an aptitude for the job. Kerry has since passed her Certificate in Payroll Practice and was also awarded the National Payroll Alliance Best Achiever Award at a graduation ceremony in London in 2009. Kerry has gone on to achieve not only a Diploma in Payroll Supervision but a Diploma in Payroll Management, both with excellent results. She hopes to use these qualifications to move upwards within the payroll profession.

Kerry’s main duties include running or checking multiple clients payrolls whilst working to strict deadlines. This involves the administration of new starter/leavers, making payments and deductions for Tax, NI, SSP, SMP, SPP, issuing P45s/P46s, investigating and resolving payroll queries from clients, transmission of Bacs and assisting with year end returns and procedures.

Kerry lives in Eastbourne and is an active member of the gym. She also enjoys playing for the Plummer Parsons Stoolball Team and is a member of the Social Committee.

 

Janet Smith Administrator

Before joining Plummer Parsons in September 2006 Janet worked at the Dental Practice Board in Eastbourne as a key to disc operator and achieved NVQ level 2 Business Administration. 

At Plummer Parsons Janet  works part time in the Payroll department, inputting & checking payrolls for a variety of clients, small to large company’s covering all pay frequencies weekly, fortnightly, 4 weekly, monthly, quarterly & annually. Every 6 months the payroll department is updated by in house training on legislative updates.

Janet lives in Eastbourne. Outside of work Janet enjoys gardening, walking, shopping and socializing with friends.

 

David Kaufmann

Payroll Administrator

David was educated at Willingdon Community School where he gained 10 GCSEs. He then went on to further education at Park College where he studied A level ICT, Geology and Geography. While deciding his career choice he spent four years working and gaining experience at Homebase.
 
David's main duties are processing payrolls. This involves the administration of new starters/leavers, making deductions for Tax, NI, SSP, SMP and issuing P45s/P46s.
 
David hopes to build up a career in the payroll department and aims to gain payroll qualifications.
 
His hobbies include going to the gym, playing football and also watching Brighton and Hove Albion. In his spare time he likes to meet up with friends and generally relax.
