Personal
Taxation is inevitable but how much you pay is down to good planning and this applies to both income and your capital. Why pay more than is necessary? The approach of our Private Client group is to place great importance on relationships with our clients and to advise them on a wide range of issues they may face in relation to wealth management and other events of life for themselves and their families.
With over 100 years in business we are in many cases the trusted advisers to several generations of the family. Our services are designed to meet your needs.
How Can We Help You?
Wealth Management
One of the underlying reasons for going into business is to sell it, even if this does not happen and it is passed on to the next generation. Generally a business has greater value if it can operate without the day to day involvement of its owner.
Plummer Parsons is a business and we have experience in dealing with many varied businesses and their individual issues. We work with you in helping to create a more profitable and hence more valuable business. We can work with you in preparing a company for sale so that you are able to maximise its value and minimise the taxation liability. We help you through what is often a stressful experience.
Family Councils
Many owners of businesses indicate that they have no interest in slowing down or retiring, however options need to be considered. Defining these options and based on what an owner wants to do personally and in business for the rest of his or her life is often the most important and usually the first step in preparing a family plan. This involves looking at the owner’s financial security and at the sale or transfer of the company or other assets, reviewing the taxation issues at every stage.
Family plans succeed where the planning process is on-going with regular meetings. The planning group is usually called a Family Council. Our approach is to help you plan to succeed and achieve your ambitions.
Power of Attorney
There may come a time when, because you are becoming less capable of managing your business, property and financial affairs that you will need someone to do this for you. You can appoint someone to hold a lasting Power of Attorney that will allow them to act on your behalf. This could include:
Paying bills
- Buying and selling investments and other property
- Signing documents and entering contracts
- Bringing or defending legal actions
We place great importance on relationships with our clients and we are appointed as a Power of Attorney in many cases because clients know that we are best placed to look after their affairs should this become necessary.
Executorships
How will everything be sorted out when I am no longer around and who will deal with it? With our knowledge of you and your family and your personal wishes we are ideally placed to be appointed executors often together with family members.
We will deal with the estate and all matters arising and obtain Probate, agreeing with joint executors as to who does what. We have been providing this service to our clients for many years and provide a cost effective solution.
Whatever stage you are at in the above, we are well placed to meet all your needs based on our extensive specialist knowledge and experience.
