Well done to Kerry Coates who has successfully completed all her payroll exams and has added Advanced Professional Diploma in Payroll Management to her Diploma in Payroll Supervision. This means that Kerry is now a fully qualified Payroll Manager.

According to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), around 75,000 employers currently offer no pension provision to their employees. From October 2012 onwards all employers with one worker or more will be required to enrol all eligible jobholders into a workplace pension scheme and make an employer contribution towards it.

Before 6 April 2011 employers making a payment to a former employee after Form P45 had been issued needed to deduct tax at basic rate only. If the employee was a higher rate tax payer, they gained a cash flow advantage as any additional tax would not be accounted for until the employee submitted their tax return for the year.
